This guide outlines the procedure for installing the Electronic Automatic Focuser (EAF) onto the Askar 120APO telescope. Ensure you have a 2mm wrench available before beginning the installation.
Installation Steps



- Remove the thumb screw: Locate and remove the thumb screw from the telescope focuser.
- Remove the coarse adjustment knob: Use a 2mm wrench to remove the coarse adjustment knob from the focuser shaft.
- Attach the motor bracket: Place the motor bracket onto the focuser and insert the standard M4 screws into the holes shown. Do not fully tighten these screws at this stage to allow for adjustment.
- Install the flexible coupling: Choose the 5-6mm flexible coupling and secure it by tightening the coupling screw.
- Mount the EAF: Insert the EAF motor into the flexible coupling and tighten the coupling end locking screw to secure the connection.
- Secure the EAF: Tighten the EAF mounting screws to fix the motor to the bracket.
- Finalize installation: Fully tighten the M4 fixing screws to lock the bracket firmly in place.

Common problems
Bracket misalignment
Do not fully lock the M4 screws in step 3 until the EAF is properly aligned with the coupling.
Coupling slippage
Ensure the coupling end locking screw is tightened securely onto the EAF shaft.
