This document provides essential instructions for the Bauknecht 18GS2 refrigerator. Before first use, wait at least two hours after installation before connecting to power. Allow 4-6 hours for the appliance to reach the correct storage temperature. If an alarm sounds, press the button to silence it.
Refrigerator compartment and food storage
The refrigerator compartment defrosts automatically. Occasional water drops on the back wall indicate the defrosting phase. Ensure the drain is kept clean to allow water to evaporate. Store ethylene-producing foods (apples, apricots, etc.) separately from ethylene-sensitive foods (fruit, vegetables, salad) to maintain freshness.
Freezer compartment
The freezer compartment is suitable for long-term storage of frozen food and freezing fresh food. The quantity of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours is specified on the rating plate. Do not re-freeze partially defrosted food.
Cleaning and maintenance
Always disconnect the appliance from the power supply before cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners, flammable liquids, or steam cleaners. Clean the interior regularly with warm water and neutral detergent. Regularly clean the drain hole located on the back wall of the refrigerator compartment near the fruit and vegetable drawer using the provided tool.
Troubleshooting and functional sounds
Normal operating sounds include compressor buzzing, gurgling, and crackling from the cooling circuit. If the appliance is not in use, disconnect it, empty it, defrost it, and leave the doors slightly ajar to prevent mold and odors.
