Quick guide from the manual

This document provides essential instructions for the safe and effective operation of the Denali 18V Cordless Sander. It covers the preparation of the tool, including battery and dust bag installation, as well as operational techniques for various materials. Always ensure the tool is switched off before performing any adjustments or maintenance.

Tool Description

The sander features a variable speed dial (A), dust exhaust (B), battery slot (C), dust bag (D), backing pad (E), vacuum adapter (F - ASR6604B-00E only), sanding disc (G), ventilation openings (H), and an on/off switch (I).

Preparation

  • Battery Pack: Align the ribs on the battery pack with the battery slot (C) and slide it onto the tool until it snaps into place. To detach, press the release button and slide the battery upwards.
  • Dust Bag: Align the rib on the tool with the slot on the dust bag (D) and push it onto the dust exhaust (B) until it clicks.
  • Vacuum Connection: For US users, connect the vacuum directly to the dust exhaust (B). For other regions, use the provided vacuum adapter (F).
  • Sanding Discs: Ensure the tool is off. Align the holes of the sanding disc (G) with the holes on the backing pad (E) and press firmly.

Operation

  • Safety: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety goggles, dust mask, and hearing protection.
  • Speed Adjustment: Use the variable speed dial (A) to adjust the sanding speed. Position 1 is the slowest, and 6 is the fastest. Use settings 1-3 for finish sanding and 4-6 for regular sanding.
  • Techniques: Move the sander in steady circular motions, overlapping strokes by up to 75%. Do not apply excessive pressure, as this can overload the motor and cause overheating.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Housing: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use corrosive detergents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Dust Bag: Empty the dust bag when it becomes 1/3 full to maintain efficiency.
  • Storage: Clean the tool before storing it in a dry area, away from children and pets.

This may indicate worn carbon brushes; stop using the tool and dispose of it appropriately.
