Quick guide from the manual

This document provides essential instructions for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of the Hamron 12V Power Winch (4309 kg). Always read the full safety instructions before use. The winch is designed for pulling loads and must not be used as a lifting device or for securing loads during transport.

Safety instructions

  • Always wear heavy-duty safety gloves, non-slip shoes, and eye protection when handling the winch or battery.
  • Keep onlookers at a safe distance (at least 1.5 times the length of the wire).
  • Never step over the wire or stand in line with it when under load.
  • Ensure the vehicle engine is running during winching to maintain battery charge.
  • Do not use the winch if the wire is damaged.
  • Always keep at least 6 turns of steel wire or 10 turns of synthetic fibre line on the drum.

Installation

The winch must be mounted on a level, horizontal or vertical steel frame capable of withstanding the maximum pulling force. Ensure the motor, gearbox, and drum are perfectly aligned.

Installation of relay box

The relay box can be mounted horizontally or vertically on the drawbars above the drum using the provided brackets and spacers. Ensure all screws are tightened securely.

Electrical connection

Connect the winch to the vehicle's 12V electrical system. Ensure the battery is fully charged. Follow the wiring diagram carefully to connect the red, yellow, and black wires to the corresponding motor terminals and the battery.

Operation

Before winching, ensure the vehicle's parking brake is applied and wheels are wedged. Use the clutch lever to disengage the drum for pulling out the wire, then engage it (IN position) for winching. Operate the winch using the hand control, preferably from the driver's seat. After use, always rewind the wire onto the drum under a minimum load of 4500 N.

Maintenance

Inspect the winch and wire monthly. Run out about 5m of wire, then pull out an additional 15m to inspect for damage. Rewind the wire under tension to ensure even winding. All moving parts are permanently lubricated at the factory; however, the wire should be oiled regularly with a thin, penetrating oil.

Corroded electrical connections

Clean all connections, especially the hand control, and use silicone spray if operating in coastal or saline environments.

Before use

  • Check that the wire is not damaged.
  • Ensure the battery is fully charged.
  • Verify the hand control is not damaged.
  • Ensure the clutch lever is in the correct position (IN for winching).
  • Check that the vehicle parking brake is applied and wheels are wedged.
