The IPEVO VZ-R ULTRA is a 13MP document camera designed to capture documents, textbooks, and 3D objects. It supports two main operating modes: HDMI (direct to display) and USB (connected to a computer). Before first use, the weighted base must be attached to the stand using the provided screws and screwdriver.
Getting to know your VZ-R ULTRA
The device features a multi-jointed stand for flexible positioning and a swiveling camera head. Control buttons are located on the main unit:
- Light: Toggles the built-in LED.
- Filter: Applies video filters.
- Rotate: Rotates the live image.
- Zoom In/Out: Adjusts the image magnification.
- Exposure: Increase or decrease brightness.
- Focus Button: Press once to focus. Hold for 2 seconds to toggle between AutoFocus-Continuous (AF-C) and AutoFocus-Single (AF-S).
The LED indicator shows status: Green (powered on), White (in use/streaming).
Connecting to HDMI displays
- Connect an HDMI cable (not included) from the camera to your TV, monitor, or projector.
- Connect the included USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable to the camera's USB port and a power source (USB port on the display or a 5V/1A power adapter).
- Turn on the device using the Power Switch.
Using USB mode
Connect the camera to a computer using the included cable. The microphone is only functional in this mode. For optimal performance, use the IPEVO Visualizer software, available at support.ipevo.com/vz-r_ultra.
Safety and precautions
Avoid using or storing the device in the following environments:
- Near heat sources.
- Near steam or greasy smoke.
- Locations with high humidity.
- Sandy or dusty places.

Common problems
The microphone is only functional when the camera is used in USB mode.
Use the Increase Exposure or Decrease Exposure buttons on the unit to adjust the brightness.
Press the Focus button once to trigger autofocus. Hold for 2 seconds to switch between AF-C (continuous) and AF-S (single) modes.

- Ensure you have an HDMI cable if connecting to a display.
- Ensure you have a 5V/1A power adapter if the display's USB port does not provide sufficient power.
