Table of contents
Product Overview
The Secure C-Stat 17-B is a 7-day programmable room thermostat designed for efficient central heating control. It utilizes a sophisticated load compensation (LC) algorithm to maintain accurate temperatures and improve energy efficiency. The device features a large, intuitive display and user-friendly interface.
Operation and Display
The display shows the actual room temperature, current day, time, and upcoming scheduled temperature changes. Pressing any button illuminates the backlight for 10 seconds. Users can easily adjust settings using the Back, -, +, and Enter buttons.

Programming and Overrides
The thermostat comes with factory-default schedules for weekdays and weekends, which can be customized via the Main Menu. Users can set up to six time and temperature periods per day. Temporary and permanent overrides are available to adjust heating outside of the programmed schedule, including a hold function for extended periods.
Setup Menu
The Setup Menu allows for advanced configuration, including:
- Clock format (24h or AM/PM)
- Daylight saving adjustments
- Standby and holiday temperature settings
- Temperature limits (minimum and maximum)
- LC cycles per hour (configurable based on heating system type: oil, gas, or electric)
- Optimum start functionality
- Tamper settings with a 4-digit PIN code
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
The C-Stat 17-B is powered by two AA alkaline batteries with an approximate life of two years. The device provides three stages of low battery warnings; batteries should be replaced at the second stage to ensure continuous operation. If the display becomes frozen or scrambled, the unit can be reset by pressing the Back and Enter buttons simultaneously, which restores factory settings while retaining the time and date. The unit is not user-serviceable; do not attempt to dismantle it. For persistent faults, contact a qualified heating engineer or electrician.

Safety and Installation
For optimal performance, the thermostat must be installed in a location with free air circulation. Avoid covering it with curtains or blocking it with furniture. Keep the device away from heat sources like electric fires, televisions, or lamps, as these can interfere with accurate temperature sensing.
