Power Supply

The device operates on 3x AAA LR03 1.5V alkaline batteries. 1.2V rechargeable batteries are not recommended as they may cause low battery warnings and reduced display intensity. Alternatively, the device can be powered directly via a 5V USB power adapter; note that the USB cable does not charge the batteries.

Measurement Procedure

Correct usage position
Correct usage position
  1. Rinse your mouth with clean water. Do not smoke or drink alcohol for at least 10 minutes prior to testing.
  2. Attach the swivel mouthpiece. If testing multiple people, use a new mouthpiece tube for each person.
  3. Press the power button for 1 second to turn on the device.
  4. Wait for the sensor to warm up (approx. 40 seconds). The display will count down to zero, show 'READY', and then flash 'BLOW'.
  5. Insert the mouthpiece and blow continuously for 5 to 6 seconds.
  6. Stop blowing after the double beep. The device will analyze the sample, flashing 'READING'.
  7. The result will be displayed. If the value is below 0.200 ‰, it will show 0.000 ‰ or 0.100 ‰.

Memory and Settings

The device stores the last 20 results. Press the Memory button to view them. To clear memory, remove the batteries for 5 seconds. To change units (‰ BAC, % BAC, mg/L) or alert levels (0.1 to 1.0), remove the batteries, then press and hold the power button while reinserting them. Use the power button to cycle units and the memory button to adjust alert levels. Hold the memory button for 2 seconds to save.

Maintenance and Storage

  • Clean the test chamber by shaking the instrument or using a stream of fresh air (e.g., a fan) to remove residue from previous tests.
  • Store in a dry environment free of chlorine or corrosive gases.
  • Do not drop the device or expose it to shock.
  • Recalibrate every 12 months or replace the sensor module.
  • Use a dry cloth for cleaning; do not use abrasives or solvents.
