Safety Precautions

  • Always wear rubber gloves, safety goggles, and appropriate protective clothing when handling chemicals.
  • Work in a well-ventilated area and avoid contact with chemicals.
  • Do not use flammable materials, diesel fuel, acids, or caustic chemicals.
  • Never spray in the direction of humans, animals, or property.
  • Do not use liquids with temperatures exceeding 110°F (43°C).
  • Always relieve pressure through the shut-off valve before performing maintenance or adjustments.

Assembly and Setup

The sprayer requires basic assembly of the pump lever, wand, and shoulder straps. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks. For diaphragm pump models, the stop plate can be relocated for left-hand pumping. Deluxe models feature a built-in pressure regulator adjustable to 15, 30, 45, or 60 psi.

Operation

Prime the pump with quick strokes until firm resistance is felt. The pressure chamber stores compressed air and liquid for consistent spraying. Use the shut-off valve lever to control flow; a retaining clip allows for continuous operation. Always mix chemicals in a separate container and pour through the filter basket to prevent debris from entering the tank.

Maintenance and Cleaning

  • Cleaning: Thoroughly rinse the tank and pump clean water through the system after every use. Do not store chemicals in the sprayer.
  • Lubrication: Periodically lubricate the cap gasket, piston, and Viton collar with Solo Superior Grease or petroleum jelly to ensure proper sealing and operation.
  • Storage: Store away from direct sunlight to prevent UV damage. Before winter, drain all liquid and leave the shut-off valve in the open position to prevent freezing.

Troubleshooting and Disposal

If the sprayer loses pressure quickly, drain the tank and pump air to refill the pressure chamber. Regularly inspect hoses, wands, and seals for wear or leaks. Dispose of contaminated rinse water and chemicals in accordance with local environmental ordinances.
