Quick guide from the manual

The Uniden BC 120XLT is a 100-channel programmable scanner. Before first use, ensure the battery pack is fully charged. The device features Twin Turbo technology for fast scanning and searching across 11 frequency bands. Key operations include programming channels manually, using preprogrammed service scans, and searching for active frequencies.

Setup

Battery Charging: Connect the AD-70U AC adapter to the charging jack on the left side of the scanner. A full charge takes 14 to 16 hours. Use only the specified adapter to avoid damage.

Antenna and Belt Clip: Attach the rubber antenna to the BNC connector on top by turning it clockwise. Install the belt clip on the back using the provided screws, being careful not to overtighten.

Operation

Scanning: Press SCAN to monitor programmed channels. You can toggle banks on or off to customize the scan cycle. Use the SQUELCH control to eliminate background noise until the threshold is reached.

Programming Channels: To store a frequency, press MAN, enter the channel number, type the frequency using the numeric keypad (including the decimal point), and press E to save.

Searching: Press SRCH to search for active frequencies within a specified range. You can set frequency limits by pressing LIMIT after entering the start and end frequencies.

Maintenance and Safety

Cleaning: Use a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or excessive water. Keep the device away from high-moisture environments and direct sunlight.

Battery Care: The scanner uses a Nickel-Cadmium battery. Do not short-circuit or dispose of it in fire. If the low battery indicator blinks, the unit will shut off after approximately 10 minutes to prevent deep discharge.
