This document serves as an official notice regarding the discontinuation of the Abbott i-STAT CG4+ blue cartridge (list number 03P85-51). Abbott will cease shipments of this product on June 30, 2026. Existing stock may continue to be used until the expiration date printed on the product label. Facilities are advised to transition to the i-STAT CG4+ white cartridge (list number 03P85-25).
Product transition
The i-STAT CG4+ white cartridge is the recommended alternative for the i-STAT 1 System. It supports the same tests as the blue cartridge while offering a wider reportable range and expanded sample types (including capillary and non-anticoagulated samples for certain analytes).

Comparison of cartridges
Both the blue (03P85-51) and white (03P85-25) cartridges require a sample volume of 95 microliters and support the following tests: Lactate, pH, PCO2, PO2, TCO2, HCO3, BE, and sO2. The white cartridge provides broader ranges for pH, PCO2, and PO2, and allows for the use of non-anticoagulated samples, whereas the blue cartridge is restricted to anticoagulated samples.
