Quick guide from the manual
This document provides the DMX profile specifications for the Aputure STORM 1000c and 80c fixtures running Aputure OS II. It details the channel mappings for various operating modes, including CCT, HSI, RGB, and specialized effect profiles. Users can utilize this guide to configure their lighting consoles for precise control over intensity, color, effects, and fan behavior.
DMX Profile Overview
The fixtures support three main sets of DMX profiles:
- Basic DMX Profiles: Standard control for color and intensity.
- Control Channel DMX Profiles: Include additional channels for Strobe, Control, and Fan management.
- Color Space DMX Profiles: Specialized profiles for advanced color management.
Profiles labeled +Control provide three extra channels:
- Strobe Channel: Enables strobe effects in any color configuration.
- Control Channel: Allows remote execution of fixture settings (e.g., DMX smoothing, signal confirmation, RDM, and dimming curves).
- Fan Channel: Adjusts fan speed or behavior (requires setting Fan mode to DMX Controlled in the system settings).
Control Channel Operations
The Control Channel allows remote execution of specific commands. To execute a command, assign the specified DMX value to the Control Channel for 2.5 seconds, then reset it to 0. The fixture will provide a red flash confirmation upon successful execution. This confirmation can be disabled by setting the Control Channel to Value 15.
Effect Parameters
Profiles containing FX (Effects) include dedicated channels for effect selection and parameters. The manual provides detailed charts for various effects, such as Club Lights, Paparazzi, Lightning, TV, Candle, Fire, Strobe, Explosion, Faulty Bulb, Pulsing, Welding, Cop Car, Color Chase, Party Lights, and Fireworks. Each effect has specific parameters (e.g., speed, frequency, color combinations) mapped to DMX channels.
Color Space Profiles
Color Space profiles allow for precise color rendering control. The manual includes a Color Space Chart that maps DMX values to specific industry standards like Broadcast SDR, sRGB, Display P3, Rec2020, and ACES, defining the EOTF and RGB-to-XYZ matrix for each.

Common problems
Disable the signal confirmation flash by setting the Control Channel to Value 15 for 2.5 seconds, then reset to 0.
Ensure the fixture's System settings for Fan mode are set to DMX Controlled.
Avoid patching the 'No Effect' range (typically found at the beginning of a channel) into your lighting console.
Before use
- Verify the fixture is running the correct firmware version (V1.0).
- Ensure the DMX profile selected on the console matches the profile set on the fixture.
- Set the Fan mode to DMX Controlled if you intend to use the Fan Channel.
- Check the DMX Control Channel chart for specific command execution times (2.5 seconds).
Specs in practice
- Strobe Channel
- Enables strobe effects in any available color configuration.
- Control Channel
- Dedicated channel for remote execution of fixture settings like DMX smoothing and signal confirmation.
- No Effect Range
- A range at the beginning of a channel designed to prevent unintended changes when the control is idle.
Model compatibility
- Profiles labeled '+Control' are ideal for advanced control methods.
- Color Space profiles are designed for specific industry standards (e.g., Rec709, P3, Rec2020).
