The Free-Motion Quilting Foot is designed for stippling, meandering, and thread painting. This accessory allows for free-motion quilting by enabling the fabric to be moved in any direction once the machine's feed dogs are lowered. For optimal results, use a consistent sewing speed and consider lowering the upper thread tension to achieve a balanced stitch.

Installation

- Select the straight stitch on your sewing machine.
- Remove the existing presser foot holder.
- Align the quilting foot with the lower-left side of the presser bar, ensuring the pin on the foot is positioned over the needle clamp screw.
- Hold the foot in place with your right hand and tighten the presser foot holder screw using a screwdriver with your left hand.
- Lower the feed dog position switch, located at the rear of the machine base, to the lowered position.
Usage and Techniques
Stippling: Use the center straight stitch position with feed dogs lowered. Bring the bobbin thread to the top, sew a few stitches, and trim. Run the machine at the fastest speed while moving the fabric in a slow, fluid motion, ensuring stitches do not cross.
Meandering: Follow the same procedure as stippling, but allow the stitches to cross.
Thread Painting: Drop the feed dogs and fill in your design using either a straight or zigzag stitch.
Maintenance and Tips
After finishing your project, remember to raise the feed dog position switch back to the raised position. When using metallic or heavier threads, use a Metallica needle, which features a larger, longer eye to prevent fraying and shredding.
