The Bosch UniversalTacker 18V-14 is a cordless tacker designed for fastening fabrics, leather, cardboard, foils, and insulation materials to soft surfaces like wood. It is not suitable for ceiling or wall paneling. The tool features adjustable impact force and supports specific accessories for paper stapling and consistent spacing.
Assembly
To load the magazine: Turn the tool over, press the magazine release (8), and pull the magazine (9) out. Insert the staple strip (14) or nail strip (15). When using nails, hold the tool slightly angled so nails lie flat against the side wall. Slide the magazine back until it clicks into place.
Operation
The tool features a trigger lock connected to the movable tacker head (1) to prevent accidental firing. For single actuation, press the tacker head firmly against the workpiece until fully pushed in, then press the trigger (2). For contact actuation, hold the trigger (2) down and press the tacker head (1) firmly against the workpiece to fire.
Impact Force Selection
Use the thumbwheel (4) to preselect the impact force based on material hardness and fastener length. Always test on a scrap piece of material first. After use, set the impact force to a low value to relieve the tension spring.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance, changing tools, or transporting the device. Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean for safe operation.
Safety
Always assume the tool contains fasteners. Do not point the tool at yourself or others. Do not use for fastening electrical cables. If a fastener jams, remove the battery before attempting to clear the jam.

Common problems
Fastener jam
Remove the battery, pull out the magazine, and remove the jammed fastener using pliers if necessary.
Tool overheats
The tool is designed for short-term use (max 10 minutes). If it overheats, stop and let it cool down.
Before use
- Ensure the battery is fully charged.
- Check that the correct fasteners (Type 53 staples or Type 48 nails) are loaded.
- Test the impact force on a scrap piece of material.
- Ensure the tacker head is clean and moves freely.
