Product Overview

The Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM is a high-performance lens specifically designed for digital SLR cameras with APS-C size sensors. Its specialized optical design provides ideal properties for digital photography, offering a fast F1.8 aperture throughout the zoom range.

Setup and Operation

To attach the lens, align it with the camera mount and rotate until it clicks into place. Ensure the electrical contacts on the mount remain clean to maintain proper communication between the lens and camera body.

Focusing and Zooming

• Autofocus (AF): Set the focus mode switch on the lens to the AF position. The built-in Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) ensures quick and quiet focusing.
• Manual Focus (M): Set the switch to the M position to adjust focus manually using the focus ring.
• Zooming: Rotate the rubber grip on the zoom ring to achieve the desired focal length.

Note: For Nikon, Pentax, and Sony mounts, autofocus is only possible with camera bodies that support ultrasonic motor-driven lenses.

Lens Hood and Filters

A detachable bayonet-type lens hood is included to prevent flare and ghosting from stray light. Attach it by turning clockwise until it locks. For storage, the hood can be reversed on the lens. When using filters, use only one at a time to avoid vignetting. If using a polarizing filter, ensure it is of the circular type for proper AF and exposure operation.

Care and Maintenance

• Storage: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place. Keep away from mothballs or naphthalene gas to protect lens coatings.
• Cleaning: Do not use organic solvents like thinner or benzine. Use a soft, moistened lens cloth or lens tissue to remove dirt or fingerprints.
• Environmental Precautions: The lens is not waterproof. Avoid exposure to rain or water. Sudden temperature changes may cause condensation; if moving from cold to warm environments, keep the lens in its case until it reaches room temperature.
