The Tank Alert I alarm system is a versatile solution designed for indoor monitoring of liquid levels in various applications, including lift pump chambers, sump pump basins, sewage systems, and agricultural water tanks. Depending on the float switch model used, the system can be configured as either a high-level or low-level alarm.
Operation and Features
The system provides an audible and visual warning when a potentially threatening liquid level condition is detected. When the alarm is triggered, an 86-decibel horn sounds, and a red alarm light illuminates. The horn can be silenced using the integrated switch, but the warning light will remain active until the liquid level condition is corrected. A green power-on light confirms that the unit is receiving electricity. The system is housed in a NEMA 1 enclosure, making it suitable for indoor environments.
Safety is a priority in the design, as the switching mechanism operates on low voltage and is isolated from the main power line to minimize the risk of electrical shock. Furthermore, when installed on a separate circuit, the alarm system remains functional even if the primary pump circuit fails.
Technical Specifications
The system is available in 120 VAC or 230 VAC primary voltage configurations. The alarm enclosure measures 6 x 4 x 2.5 inches. The included SJE SignalMaster control switch comes with a 15-foot flexible, water-resistant cable. The float itself is constructed from high-impact, corrosion-resistant polypropylene, capable of operating in temperatures up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and at depths of up to 30 feet.
Installation and Maintenance
The system is designed for ease of installation. It is critical to note that the float switch connection terminal is strictly for the float switch; users must never apply external power to these terminals, as they carry 12 VAC. The system is compatible with any UL Listed or Recognized switching mechanism rated for a 1 amp, 12 VAC load. Regular testing of the system using the integrated test switch is recommended to ensure the alarm horn and lights are functioning correctly.
