Quick guide from the manual

This guide provides essential information for the Bauknecht 12VF3D refrigerator. For detailed instructions, please refer to the full manual.

First time use

After installation, wait at least two hours before connecting the appliance to the power supply. Once connected, it starts automatically. The ideal storage temperatures are preset at the factory. Wait 4-6 hours after turning on for the correct storage temperature to be reached for a normally filled appliance. If an audible signal sounds, the temperature alarm has intervened; press the button to switch off the acoustic alarms.

Refrigerator compartment and food storage

The refrigerator compartment allows for the storage of fresh food and drink. Defrosting is completely automatic. Occasional water drops on the internal back wall indicate the automatic defrosting phase. The defrosting water is channeled into a drain and collected in a container to evaporate.

Air ventilation

Ventilation allows for better temperature distribution and food preservation. Do not obstruct the ventilation area.

Storing fresh food and beverages

Always separate or wrap foods that release large amounts of ethylene gas (apples, apricots, pears, peaches, avocado, figs, prunes, blueberries, melons, beans) from those sensitive to it (fruit, vegetables, salad). Use recyclable plastic, metal, aluminum, and glass containers and cling film to wrap foods. If storing a small quantity of food, use the shelves above the fruit and vegetable crisper, as this is the coolest area.

Freezer compartment food storage

The freezer compartment allows for long-term storage of frozen food and freezing of fresh food. The quantity of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours is indicated on the rating plate. Arrange fresh food in the freezing area, leaving enough space around packages for air to circulate. Do not re-freeze partially defrosted food. Wrap food to prevent water, humidity, or condensation ingress.

Defrosting the freezer

It is advisable to set the temperature colder or turn on the Fast Freeze/Fast Cool function at least four hours before removing food to prolong preservation during the defrosting phase. To defrost, turn off the appliance, remove drawers, and place frozen food in a cool place. Leave the door open to allow frost to melt. Place an absorbent cloth at the bottom of the freezer compartment to collect water and wring it out regularly.

Functional sounds

Normal operating sounds include a buzz from the compressor, gurgling and crackles from the refrigerant gas, and occasional creaks from the product structure.

Cleaning and maintenance

Before any cleaning or maintenance, unplug the appliance or disconnect the power supply. Never use abrasives or flammable fluids. Do not use steam cleaners. Clean the appliance occasionally with a cloth and a solution of warm water and neutral cleaning agents. Regularly clean the inside of the drain situated in the back wall of the refrigerator compartment near the fruit and vegetable drawer using the provided utensil.
