Device Description
The tools feature a keyless chuck, torque presetting ring, gear selector, and an LED worklight. The GSB 18V-55 includes an additional operating mode ring for impact drilling.
Assembly and First Use
- Battery: Insert the charged battery into the base of the tool until it locks securely.
- Tool Change: Ensure the tool is off. With the on/off switch not pressed, the spindle is locked. Open the keyless chuck, insert the tool, and tighten the chuck sleeve firmly by hand.
Operation
Rotational Direction: Use the switch to select forward (left) or reverse (right) rotation. This cannot be changed while the on/off switch is pressed.
Operating Modes:
- Drilling: Set the torque ring (GSR) or mode ring (GSB) to the drill symbol.
- Screwdriving: Set the torque ring to the desired torque level (20 stages). Set the mode ring (GSB) to the screwdriver symbol.
- Impact Drilling (GSB only): Set the mode ring to the impact drill symbol.
Speed Control: The speed is infinitely variable depending on how far the on/off switch is pressed.
Maintenance and Safety
Always remove the battery before performing maintenance or transporting the tool. Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean for safe operation. Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace, as some dust types are flammable or hazardous.
Technical Data
Both models operate at 18V. The GSB 18V-55 features an impact rate of up to 27,000 bpm. Recommended ambient temperature for charging is 0 to +35°C.

Common problems
Tool does not start
Check if the battery is charged and correctly inserted. If the battery is empty, the protective circuit will switch off the tool.
Tool stops during operation
The tool may be overloaded or outside the permitted operating temperature range. Allow it to cool down or reduce the load.
Drill bit bends or breaks
Do not exceed the maximum rated speed of the drill bit. Start drilling at a low speed with the bit tip in contact with the workpiece.
Before use
- Ensure the battery is fully charged.
- Check that the correct tool bit is securely inserted in the chuck.
- Verify the rotational direction switch is set correctly.
- Ensure the gear selector is fully engaged.
- Check that the operating mode is set correctly for the task.
