Always set the rotational direction switch to the center position before performing any maintenance, tool changes, or storage to prevent accidental activation.
Operation
Inserting the Battery: Ensure the rotational direction switch is in the center position. Insert the charged battery into the handle until it engages flush.
Rotational Direction: Use the switch to select direction. Push left for right rotation (drilling/screwing) and right for left rotation (loosening screws).
Torque Setting: Use the torque preselection ring to choose from 20 settings. The safety clutch is deactivated in the drill position.
Gear Selection: Use the gear selector only when the machine is at a standstill. Gear I is for low speed (screwdriving/large diameters), and Gear II is for high speed (small drilling diameters).
Changing the Tool
The machine features an automatic spindle lock when the On/Off switch is not pressed. Open the keyless chuck by turning it, insert the tool, and tighten the collar firmly by hand until a click is heard.
Replacing the Drill Chuck
The keyless chuck is secured with a screw that has a left-hand thread. To remove, open the chuck, unscrew the securing screw clockwise, clamp an Allen key into the chuck, and turn the chuck counter-clockwise. Mounting is performed in reverse order, tightening the chuck to approximately 20–25 Nm.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Keep the machine and ventilation slots clean for safe operation. If the tool fails, contact an authorized Bosch service center. Always include the 10-digit article number from the type plate when requesting service or spare parts.
Safety
Always wear eye protection. Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate in explosive atmospheres. Ensure the switch is in the off position before inserting the battery. Do not open the battery due to short-circuit risks. Protect batteries from heat and fire.

Common problems
Tool insert jams during operation
Switch off the power tool immediately. Be prepared for high reaction torque that can cause kickback.
Gear selector cannot be pushed through
Lightly turn the drill chuck with the drill bit to align the gears.
Significantly reduced working period after charging
The battery has reached the end of its service life and must be replaced.
Before use
- Ensure the rotational direction switch is in the center position for storage or transport.
- Check that the battery is fully charged (new batteries require approx. 5 cycles to reach full capacity).
- Verify the correct gear (I or II) is selected for the intended task.
- Ensure the tool bit is securely tightened in the keyless chuck.
- Check that the work area is free of hidden utility lines.
