The Bosch GUS 12V-300 is a cordless universal shear designed for cutting flexible, soft materials such as carpet, PVC, cardboard, leather, and fabrics up to 11 mm thick. It is suitable for both straight and curved cuts.
Device description
The tool features an adjustable protective guard, a guide runner for stability, and a Cut Control line mark for precise cutting. It is powered by a 12V lithium-ion battery.
Assembly and tool change
Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance or changing the blade. To change the blade:
- Loosen the knurled screw and move the protective guard to the top.
- Rotate the blade with a screwdriver until a hole is accessible.
- Insert a thin, stable object (like a nail) into the hole to lock the blade.
- Unscrew the blade securing screw, remove the old blade, and install the new one with the ground edge facing outwards.
- Ensure the blade clicks into place, then re-tighten the securing screw.
- Adjust the protective guard to the material thickness and tighten the knurled screw.
Operation
To start, insert a charged battery until it clicks. Slide the on/off switch forward to position 'I' to turn on, and backward to position '0' to turn off. Always adjust the protective guard to the material thickness before each use to protect your fingers.
Safety and maintenance
Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean. Regularly clean the protective guard with a brush or damp cloth. Do not process asbestos-containing materials. Be aware of live cables while cutting. If the tool is overloaded or the battery temperature is outside the permitted range, the tool will reduce speed or shut down automatically.

Common problems
Tool stops during operation
The tool may be overloaded or the battery temperature is out of range. Switch off, let the battery cool down, and reduce the load.
Thin materials (e.g., fabric) get pulled into the tool
Do not push too hard. Keep the material taut while cutting and cut slowly.
Blade becomes blunt
This is usually caused by improper use. Ensure the guide runner is parallel to the cutting surface and not wedged.

- Ensure the battery is fully charged.
- Check that the blade is sharp and clean.
- Adjust the protective guard to the thickness of the material to be cut.
- Ensure the guide runner is parallel to the cutting surface.
