The Bosch GBH 185-LI is a cordless rotary hammer designed for hammer drilling in concrete, brick, and stone, as well as light chiseling. It is also suitable for drilling without impact in wood, metal, ceramic, and plastic, and for screwdriving. Always ensure the battery is removed before performing any maintenance, changing accessories, or transporting the tool.
Safety
- Always wear hearing protection.
- Use the provided auxiliary handle to maintain control.
- Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing operations where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring.
- Use appropriate detectors to locate hidden utility lines.
- Wait for the tool to come to a complete stop before placing it down.
Operation
The tool features a mode selector switch to choose between hammer drilling, drilling without impact, Vario-Lock (for adjusting chisel position), and chiseling. Note: Only change the operating mode when the tool is switched off.
Drilling and Chiseling
- Hammer drilling: Use SDS-plus tools.
- Drilling without impact: Use non-SDS-plus tools with a keyed chuck (requires adapter).
- Vario-Lock: Allows the chisel to be locked in 36 different positions.
Depth Adjustment
Use the depth stop to set the desired drilling depth. Press the adjustment button on the auxiliary handle and slide the depth stop to the required position.
Maintenance and Cleaning
- Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean for safe operation.
- Clean the tool holder after every use.
- Replace a damaged dust protection cap immediately via an authorized service center.
Troubleshooting
If the tool experiences a sudden, unexpected rotation, the KickBack Control feature will automatically shut it down. To restart, release the on/off switch and press it again. The work light will blink to indicate that the rapid shutdown has been triggered.
