Quick guide from the manual
This manual provides essential instructions for the Bosch GKF 18V-8 Professional Cordless Palm Router. It covers safety, setup, operation, and maintenance. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance or tool changes to prevent accidental startup.
Device Description
The GKF 18V-8 is a cordless palm router designed for routing grooves, edges, profiles, and elongated holes in wood, plastic, and light building materials. It features speed preselection and constant electronic control for consistent performance.
Tool Change
Wearing protective gloves is recommended when handling router bits. To change a bit: 1. Separate the fixed routing base from the motor unit. 2. Use the spindle locking lever to lock the spindle. 3. Use the open-ended spanner to loosen the cap nut. 4. Insert or change the router bit (shank must be inserted at least 20 mm). 5. Tighten the cap nut securely.
Adjusting Routing Depth
Only adjust the routing depth when the tool is switched off. 1. Place the router on the workpiece. 2. Open the clamping lever. 3. Align the rib on the routing base with the depth adjustment channel on the motor unit. 4. Slide the motor unit to the desired depth. 5. Turn the base to activate fine adjustment mode and use the thumbwheel for precise depth setting. 6. Close the clamping lever.
Operation
The router features speed preselection (10,000–30,000 min⁻¹) via a thumbwheel. Use the Constant Electronic feature to maintain speed under load. For edge routing, use the chip shield and dust extraction adapter for maximum dust collection.
Maintenance
Keep the motor unit, depth adjustment mechanism, and the inside of the routing base clean. Use a clean cloth, brush, or compressed air to remove dust and debris regularly.
