Quick guide from the manual
This manual provides essential instructions for the Bosch GKF 18V-8 Professional Cordless Palm Router. It covers safety, setup, operation, and maintenance. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance or changing accessories to prevent accidental starting.
Device Description
The GKF 18V-8 is a cordless palm router designed for routing grooves, edges, profiles, and elongated holes in wood, plastic, and light building materials. Key components include the motor unit, fixed routing base, speed preselection thumbwheel, and depth adjustment thumbwheel.
Battery Operation
Use only the chargers listed in the technical data. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use. Insert the battery into the holder until it clicks into place. To remove, press the release button and pull the battery out.
Tool Change
Wearing protective gloves is recommended when fitting or changing router bits. To change a bit, first separate the fixed routing base from the motor unit. Use the spindle locking lever to lock the spindle and the open-ended spanner to loosen/tighten the cap nut. Ensure the router bit shank is inserted at least 20 mm into the collet.
Operation
To switch on, set the On/Off switch to I; to switch off, set it to 0. The speed can be preselected using the thumbwheel. The Constant Electronic feature maintains a consistent speed under load. Adjust the routing depth only when the tool is switched off by aligning the rib on the routing base with the depth adjustment channel on the motor unit.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Always remove the battery before any work on the tool. Keep the motor unit, routing depth fine-adjustment mechanism, and the inside of the routing base clean using a clean cloth or compressed air. Ensure ventilation slots are free of debris.
