This document provides essential instructions for the Bosch GSR 12V-15 Professional cordless drill/driver. It is intended for driving and loosening screws and for drilling in wood, metal, ceramic, and plastic.
Device description
The tool features a keyless chuck, torque presetting ring, gear selector, and a built-in PowerLight. It is powered by a rechargeable battery (not included as standard).
Assembly
Always remove the battery before performing any work on the tool (e.g., maintenance, tool change) or for transport and storage to prevent accidental starting.
- Charging the battery: Use only recommended chargers. The battery is supplied partially charged; charge it fully before first use.
- Changing the tool: The drill spindle is locked when the on/off switch is not pressed. Open the keyless chuck by turning it, insert the tool, and tighten the sleeve firmly by hand until it clicks.
Operation
- Inserting the battery: Insert the charged battery into the handle until it engages flush.
- Setting rotational direction: Use the switch to change direction. Only operate when the tool is not in use.
- Preselecting torque: Use the ring to select from 20 torque stages.
- Mechanical gear selection: Select between two speed ranges (1st gear for large drilling diameters/screwdriving, 2nd gear for small drilling diameters). Only operate when the tool is at a standstill.
- Switching on/off: Press and hold the on/off switch to start; release to stop.
Maintenance and safety
Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean for safe operation. If the tool becomes blocked, switch it off immediately to avoid high reaction torques. Protect the battery from heat, fire, and moisture.

Tool does not start
Check battery charge level and ensure it is properly inserted.
Tool stops during operation
The tool may be overloaded or the battery temperature is outside the permitted range. Allow the tool to cool down.
Gear selector cannot be pushed fully
Turn the drill chuck slightly with the drill bit.

- Ensure the battery is fully charged.
- Check that the correct drill bit or screwdriver bit is securely inserted in the keyless chuck.
- Set the rotational direction switch to the desired position.
- Select the appropriate gear (1 or 2) for the task.
