Quick guide from the manual

The Bosch UniversalCirc 18V-53 is a cordless circular saw designed for straight and miter cuts in wood. Before use, ensure the battery is fully charged. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance, changing the blade, or transporting the tool to prevent accidental activation.

Device Description

Key components include the battery (1), on/off switch (2), battery charge indicator (3), lock-off button (4), cutting depth adjustment lever (29), and the CutControl viewing window (9) for precise cutting.

Operation

To operate, press the lock-off button (4) and then the on/off switch (2). The saw features an integrated run-out brake to stop the blade quickly after switching off. Adjust the cutting depth using the lever (29) so that less than a full tooth is visible below the workpiece. For miter cuts, loosen the wing bolt (7) and set the desired angle on the scale (6).

Blade Replacement

To change the blade, place the tool on the front of the motor housing. Press and hold the spindle lock button (22). Use the hex key (23) to loosen the clamping bolt (24). Swing the retracting blade guard (11) back, remove the clamping flange (25) and the old blade (12). Clean all parts before installing the new blade, ensuring the rotation arrow on the blade matches the arrow on the protective guard (11).

Dust Extraction

Always use the deflection tube (21) to direct chips away from you. For external extraction, connect a hose (20) to the chip ejector (16) and attach it to a suitable vacuum cleaner.

Maintenance

Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean for safe operation. Ensure the retracting blade guard moves freely and closes automatically. Clean the area around the guard with a brush. Clean saw blades immediately after use to remove resin or glue residue.
