The Easy Camp Skylark self-inflating mat requires specific care during its first use to ensure the foam expands correctly. For regular use, the mat inflates automatically, but firmness can be adjusted manually. Proper storage is essential to maintain the foam's memory and ensure quick inflation in the future.
First-time inflation
Before using the mat for the first time, it is recommended to perform the inflation process indoors in a heated room:

- Detach the straps and unroll the mat.
- Open the valve(s) completely. If there are two valves, leave one closed.
- Allow the mat to rest for at least 30 minutes.
- If necessary, blow air into the mat by mouth to assist inflation.
- Inflate the mat beyond the comfort level during the first use to ensure the foam fully expands.
- Close the valve once the desired level of support is reached.
Regular use
For subsequent uses, follow these steps:

- Open the valve(s) and roll out the mat.
- The foam will expand and self-inflate within 2 to 5 minutes, depending on the mat's thickness and how long it has been stored compressed.
- Close the valve(s) once the desired firmness is reached.
- If you need more support, you can blow air through the valve by mouth.
- If the mat feels too hard (especially for mats thicker than 5cm), lie on the mat and open a valve slightly to release air until you reach your preferred comfort level, then close the valve quickly.
Deflation and packing
To pack the mat away:

- Open the valve(s) and roll the mat towards the valves to expel air.
- Once fully rolled, close the valve(s) and secure the hook and loop straps.
- For thicker or double models: If rolling is difficult, fold the mat 3-4 times to squeeze out most of the air. Close the valves, unfold the mat, and then fold it lengthwise. With less air inside, it will be easier to roll the mattress tightly towards the valves.
Storage
It is recommended to store the mat for extended periods in a fully inflated state with the valve open. This maintains the foam's memory, allowing for faster inflation during the next use, and helps trapped moisture escape.
Safety warnings
Caution: Do not leave the mat inflated with closed valves inside a tent on hot days. The air inside the mat will expand as the temperature rises, and the high pressure may cause the fabric to delaminate from the foam. Always open the valve(s) when the mat is not in use.
