Before using your Gemini 1.8L Electric Kettle for the first time, it is recommended to fill the kettle to the maximum mark with fresh tap water, boil it, and empty it at least twice to clear any small particles. Do not drink this water. Always ensure the lid is correctly positioned before operation to avoid scalding.

Important safety instructions

• Voltage check: Before connecting, ensure the mains voltage matches the voltage indicated on the appliance.
• Water levels: Do not overfill beyond the maximum level indicator, as boiling water may be ejected. Never allow the kettle to boil dry or drop below the minimum level.
• Handling: Always use the handle. Do not touch the hot surface. Never move the kettle while it contains hot water.
• Safety precautions: Do not immerse the kettle, power base, or cord in any liquid. Switch off and unplug when not in use, before filling, emptying, or cleaning.
• Environment: Do not operate near gas or electric burners or in the presence of flammable fumes. Use a protective pad if operating on wood furniture.

How to use

1. Open the lid and fill the kettle with the desired amount of water (between the minimum and maximum marks).
2. Close the lid securely and place the kettle on the power base.
3. Plug into a power outlet and press the switch to turn the kettle on. The indicator light will turn on to show heating is in progress.
4. The kettle and indicator light will automatically switch off once the water has boiled.
5. Remove the kettle from the base to pour the water.

Cleaning and maintenance

Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth or sponge. Remove stubborn spots with a cloth moistened with mild liquid detergent. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders. Never immerse the kettle in water or other liquids.

Descaling

Scale deposits can reduce heating efficiency and should be removed periodically depending on water hardness. To descale:

1. Fill the kettle to the "max" mark with a mixture of one part ordinary vinegar and two parts water.
2. Switch on and wait for the appliance to switch off automatically.
3. Let the mixture remain inside the kettle overnight.
4. Discard the mixture the next morning.
5. Fill the kettle with clean water up to the "max" mark and boil again.
6. Discard the boiled water to remove any remaining scale and vinegar.
7. Rinse the inside of the kettle with clean water.
