The Miyota Cal. 0S80 is a high-precision chronograph watch movement capable of measuring time in 1/20 second increments, with a maximum capacity of 11 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds. This movement features a central chronograph second hand, a dedicated alarm function, and a calendar display.
Setting Time and Date
To set the time, pull the crown out to the second click position and rotate it until the hour and minute hands show the correct time. Pushing the crown back to the normal position starts the small second hand. To set the date, pull the crown to the first click position and turn it counter-clockwise. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM, as this may prevent the date from changing correctly the following day.
Using the Alarm Function
The alarm is controlled by button C. To set the alarm time, pull the crown to the first click position and turn it clockwise to align the alarm indicator with your desired time. Return the crown to the normal position and pull out button C to activate the alarm. The alarm will sound when the hour hand aligns with the set alarm time. The alarm cycle lasts for 15 seconds, followed by a 2-minute and 45-second pause, repeating several times.
Operating the Chronograph
To use the chronograph, press button B to enter chronograph mode. The small second hand will stop and function as the 1/20 second indicator. Use button A to start and stop the measurement. Pressing button B while the chronograph is stopped will reset all hands to the zero position.
Chronograph Reset Procedure
If the chronograph hands do not return to the zero position, or after a battery replacement, a reset is required. Pull the crown to the second click position. Use button A to adjust the chronograph second hand and button B to adjust the 1/20 second hand to their zero positions. Once aligned, push the crown back to the normal position. Do not push the crown in while the hands are still moving, as this will set the current position as the new zero point.

Common problems
Chronograph hands do not return to zero
Perform the reset procedure by pulling the crown to the 2nd position and using buttons A and B to zero the hands.
Date does not change
Ensure the date was not set between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM, which can interfere with the automatic change mechanism.
