The SmallRig RF 05B is a portable zoom LED video light. Before using, ensure the battery is charged. Do not disassemble the product or the built-in lithium battery. If the light overheats (exceeds 100°C), it will flash 3 times and shut down automatically. Avoid using the light while charging for extended periods, especially in Boost Mode, to preserve battery lifespan.

Installation

The light supports various accessories that can be attached to the front:

  • Diffuser: Slides onto the front of the lamp head.
  • RGB Color Filter: Attaches to the front of the lamp head.
  • Spotlight: Mounts onto the front for focused lighting.
  • Four-Leaf Barndoor: Attaches to the front to shape and control light spill.

Operation

Power On/Off: Long press the power button.

Mode Switching:

  • Bi-Color Temperature Mode: After powering on, the light enters this mode. Use the power button to select color temperature or brightness, then use the increase/decrease buttons to adjust.
  • Lighting Effects Mode: Simultaneously short press the increase and decrease buttons to enter. Use the power button to cycle through effects, brightness, and frequency.
  • Boost Mode: In Bi-Color Temperature Mode, simultaneously short press the increase and power buttons to enter Boost Mode (8W output). Repeat to exit.

Charging & Battery

Connect a USB-C adapter to the charging port. The device supports 5V/1A or 5V/3A charging. The battery icon will flash while charging. The remaining runtime is displayed below the battery icon and adjusts based on brightness settings. If battery voltage drops below 3.4V, the empty battery icon flashes and the screen turns off after 60 seconds.

Common problems

Light shuts down automatically

The LED temperature has exceeded 100°C. The light will flash 3 times and shut down to protect the hardware.

Screen turns off during use

If battery voltage is < 3.4V, the empty battery icon flashes and the screen turns off after 60 seconds.

Overheating warning

Do not use the light while charging for extended periods in Boost Mode, as this causes overheating and reduces product lifespan.
