This installation manual provides instructions for the 54-inch XTREME Mulch Kit (19A30042). Before beginning, ensure the tractor is on a firm, level surface, the parking brake is set, the PTO is disengaged (OFF), the motor is stopped, and the ignition key is removed. Always wear heavy leather work gloves when handling cutting blades.

  1. Remove the cutting deck from beneath the tractor as instructed in your tractor’s Operator’s Manual.
  2. Gently flip the deck over to expose its underside.
  3. Stabilize one of the cutting blades with a blade lock tool or a block of wood.
  4. Remove the hex flange nut that secures the blade to the spindle. Note: The nuts have a standard right-handed thread pattern; do not force them in the opposite direction.
  5. Repeat the process for the other cutting blades.
  6. Replace the blades with the new ones from the kit. Ensure each blade is installed with the side marked "Bottom" (or with a part number stamped in it) facing the ground when the mower is in the operating position.
  7. Tighten the hex flange nut to the specified torque for your deck type.

  1. Pivot the chute deflector upward and remove the protective cover from the pin on the deck’s surface.
  2. For 54-inch Stamped Decks only, position the chute adapter over the pin.
  3. Pivot the discharge chute upward.
  4. Insert the mulch plug into the discharge chute opening.
  5. Insert the mulch plug rod into the hole found on the front, right deck wheel bracket.
  6. Position the rear of the mulch plug over the pin found on the deck’s surface. Ensure the bottom of the mulch plug is installed down inside the lip of the deck opening.
  7. Secure the mulch plug in place with the wing knob.

Blade nut is difficult to remove

Ensure you are turning in the correct direction. The hex flange nuts have a standard right-handed thread pattern.

Mulch plug does not fit correctly

Ensure the bottom of the mulch plug is installed down inside the lip of the deck opening.
