Quick guide from the manual
This document provides essential installation and safety information for the Thermaltake TOUGHPOWER GT 1200W and 1000W power supply units. Always ensure the power supply is disconnected from the AC source before installation or maintenance. Do not open the PSU casing, as it contains high-voltage components; unauthorized opening voids the warranty.
Installation
- Ensure the PC is turned off and unplugged.
- Remove the AC power cord from your old power supply.
- Connect the 24-pin or 20-pin main power cable to the motherboard.
- Connect the 4+4-pin ATX 12V cable to the motherboard. If your motherboard requires only a 4-pin connector, detach the 4-pin section from the 4+4-pin connector.
- Connect peripheral power cables to devices like hard drives and optical drives.
- For graphics cards requiring PCI-E power, use the provided 6+2-pin PCI-E connectors. These can be used as 8-pin or 6-pin connectors by detaching the 2-pin section.
- Close the computer case and connect the AC power cord to the PSU input.
Safety Warnings
- Do not unplug the AC power cord while the power supply is in use.
- Avoid environments with high humidity or extreme temperatures.
- Use only genuine Thermaltake modular cables. Third-party cables may cause damage and void the warranty.
- Ensure all cables are plugged in securely to prevent damage to components.
Troubleshooting
If the power supply fails to function, check the following before contacting support:
- Verify the AC power cord is properly connected to the wall outlet and the PSU.
- Ensure the I/O switch on the back of the PSU is in the I position.
- Check that all power connectors are firmly attached to all devices.
- If connected to a UPS, ensure the UPS is powered on and functioning.

Common problems
Check AC power cord connection, ensure I/O switch is set to 'I', verify all internal cable connections, and check if the UPS (if used) is active.
Ensure the 6+2-pin PCI-E connector is used correctly. Detach the 2-pin section if a 6-pin connector is required.
Before use
- Ensure the PC is powered off and unplugged.
- Verify the AC power source matches the rating label.
- Check that all modular cables are genuine Thermaltake cables.
- Confirm the motherboard CPU power requirement (4-pin vs 8-pin).
Specs in practice
- Operating Temperature
- The PSU is designed to operate between 0°C and +40°C.
Model compatibility
- Only use genuine Thermaltake modular cables; third-party cables are not compatible and may cause damage.
- The 6+2-pin PCI-E connector is versatile and can be used as either an 8-pin or 6-pin connector.
