Quick Installation Guide
This guide provides the necessary steps to install an Electronic Automatic Focuser (EAF) on the Askar 103APO telescope. Ensure you have a 1.5mm wrench available before starting. The process involves removing the existing coarse adjustment knob, attaching the motor bracket, and securing the EAF unit with the appropriate flexible coupling.
Installation Steps
- Remove the thumb screw: Locate and remove the thumb screw from the focuser assembly.
- Remove the coarse adjustment knob: Use a 1.5mm wrench to loosen and remove the coarse adjustment knob.
- Attach the motor bracket: Position the motor bracket and insert the standard M4 screws into the designated holes. Important: Do not fully lock these screws yet to allow for alignment adjustments.
- Install the flexible coupling: Select the 5-6mm flexible coupling and lock it onto the shaft.
- Mount the EAF: Insert the EAF unit into the flexible coupling and tighten the coupling end locking screw.
- Secure the EAF: Lock the EAF mounting screws to fix the motor in place.
- Finalize installation: Tighten the M4 fixing screws on the bracket to complete the installation.
Important Notes
During the installation process, ensure that the motor bracket is not fully tightened until the EAF and coupling are properly aligned. This prevents binding and ensures smooth operation of the focuser.
