Quick guide from the manual
This document provides a quick start guide for the Behringer XENYX QX1202USB and QX1002USB mixers. It covers basic setup, control functions, and essential safety information. For detailed technical specifications and advanced operation, please refer to the full manual.
Device Description
The XENYX QX1202USB and QX1002USB are premium 12/10-input 2-bus mixers featuring XENYX mic preamps, compressors, British EQs, a Klark Teknik multi-FX processor, and a built-in USB/audio interface.
Hook-up
The mixer can be used for live performances or home studio recording. Connect microphones, instruments (like bass guitars or keyboards), and external processors (like effects units) to the appropriate inputs. Use the main outputs to connect to active speakers or monitors. Always use the included power adapter; the mixer cannot be powered via USB.
Controls
The mixer features various controls for each channel, including:
- MIC: Balanced microphone input with switchable +48V phantom power.
- LINE IN: Balanced line input for instruments or line-level devices.
- GAIN: Adjusts input amplification. Always turn fully counterclockwise before connecting/disconnecting sources.
- EQ: 3-band equalizer for boosting or cutting frequencies.
- LOW CUT: Filter to eliminate unwanted low-frequency signals.
- FX: Sends signals to the internal effects processor or external devices.
- PAN/BAL: Determines the signal position in the stereo image.
- LEVEL: Determines the channel signal level in the main mix.
- COMP: Adjusts the amount of compression on the channel.
Getting Started
To correctly set channel gains, set all LEVEL controls to their center position (0 dB). Use the GAIN controls to increase amplification until signal peaks show 0 dB on the level meter. When recording to digital devices, ensure the peak meter does not overload, as digital distortion is undesirable and can render recordings useless. A recording level of 0 dB is recommended for all signal types.
Safety
Do not remove the top cover to avoid electric shock. Do not expose the device to rain or moisture. Ensure the device is connected to a mains socket with a protective earthing connection. Always use the included power adapter.

Common problems
If the CLIP LED is lit constantly, the signal is too high. Use the GAIN control to reduce the preamp level until the LED stops lighting.
Ensure the FX TO MAIN control is not turned all the way counterclockwise.
The mixer cannot be bus-powered via USB. Always use the included power adapter.
Before use
- Ensure the correct mains voltage is used for your model.
- Turn the GAIN control fully counterclockwise before connecting or disconnecting a signal source.
- Ensure the mixer is connected to a mains socket with a protective earthing connection.
- Check that the phantom power (+48V) is only enabled for condenser microphones.
