Device Overview
The DeepMind 12D is a 12-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer featuring 4 FX engines, 2 oscillators and LFOs per voice, a 32-step control sequencer, and built-in Wi-Fi for remote control.
Hook-Up and Connections
Before powering on, ensure all audio and MIDI connections are made. Connect the main outputs (L/R) to your audio interface or sound system. Use the USB port for MIDI communication with a computer; the device is class-compliant and requires no additional drivers for Windows, Android, MacOS, or iOS.
Controls and Operation
The front panel is divided into functional sections:
- Display and Navigation: Use the LCD screen and navigation buttons to access the five main menus: PROG, FX, GLOBAL, COMPARE, and WRITE.
- ARP/SEQ: Controls the arpeggiator and sequencer. Use the RATE and GATE TIME knobs to adjust timing.
- Oscillators (OSC 1 & 2): Analog sound sources with pitch modulation, pulse width modulation, and noise level controls.
- VCF and VCA: Voltage-controlled low-pass filter and amplifier for shaping the sound.
- Envelopes: Three ADSR generators (VCA, VCF, MOD) for modulating parameters over time.
Getting Started
To begin, connect the power cable and turn on the power switch. In your DAW, set the DeepMind 12D as both the MIDI input and output device for your channel. Use the GLOBAL menu to customize settings for your specific workflow. Always ensure your firmware is up to date by checking the GLOBAL/SYSTEM SETTINGS menu and visiting the Behringer website.
Safety and Maintenance
The device should be used in tropical and moderate climates up to 45°C. Do not block ventilation openings, and keep the unit away from heat sources and water. Repairs must be performed by qualified service personnel only.
