The Bosch GBH 18V-22 X is a cordless rotary hammer designed for hammer drilling in concrete, brick, and stone, as well as light chiseling. It is also suitable for drilling without impact in wood, metal, ceramic, and plastic, and for screwdriving.
Device description
The tool features an SDS plus tool holder, vibration damping, and a worklight. It supports various operating modes selectable via the impact/mode selector switch.
Assembly
Always remove the battery before performing any work on the tool. Ensure the auxiliary handle is securely tightened before operation. The tool supports SDS plus, cylindrical, and hexagonal shank bits.
Operation
Use the impact/mode selector switch to choose between hammer drilling, drilling, and chiseling. The rotational direction switch allows for clockwise and counter-clockwise operation. The tool includes a KickBack Control feature for rapid shut-off in case of sudden rotation.
Safety
Always wear ear protection and use the auxiliary handle. Hold the tool firmly with both hands and maintain a stable footing. Be cautious when using long drill bits and during demolition work.
Maintenance and cleaning
Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean. Replace damaged dust protection caps immediately. Clean the tool holder after each use.

Common problems
Tool does not start
Check battery charge level and ensure it is properly inserted.
Drill bit jams
Switch off the tool immediately and remove the bit. Use a stable footing and hold the tool firmly.
Rapid shut-off (KickBack Control) triggered
Release the on/off switch and press it again to restart.

- Ensure the battery is fully charged.
- Check that the auxiliary handle is securely tightened.
- Verify the correct operating mode is selected.
- Ensure the drill bit or accessory is properly seated and locked.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (safety glasses, ear protection).
