This document provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of the Bosch UniversalChainPole 18 cordless telescoping pruner. Always ensure the battery is removed before performing any maintenance, adjustments, or when transporting/storing the tool to prevent accidental activation.
Device Description
The UniversalChainPole 18 is designed for domestic use, specifically for pruning trees and shrubs at height while the user remains on the ground. It is not intended for use on ladders or steps, nor for commercial or industrial applications.
Assembly and Operation
Follow these steps for setup and use:

- Assembly: Connect the pruner head to the telescopic handle and secure it by tightening the connector. Attach the harness to the loops on the handles, ensuring the larger hook is on the rear handle and the smaller hook is on the front handle.
- Battery: Insert the charged battery into the telescopic handle until it is fully seated.
- Telescopic Height: Loosen the height adjustment joint, extend the tube to the desired length, and retighten the joint.
- Pivoting Head: Press the adjustment buttons simultaneously to set the pruner head to one of the 9 available positions.
- Chain Tensioning: Check chain tension before use, after the first few cuts, and every 10 minutes during operation. Tension the chain only when cold. The chain is correctly tensioned if it can be lifted by 2-3 mm in the center.
- Chain Lubrication: The pruner is not supplied with oil. Fill the oil reservoir with biodegradable Bosch chain oil before use.
- Switching On/Off: Press the lock-off button first, then the On/Off switch. Keep the On/Off switch pressed during operation.
Maintenance and Storage
Before storage, clean the tool with a cloth and remove all oil from the reservoir. Always fit the guide bar cover during transport or storage. Do not hang the tool on a branch during work breaks.
Troubleshooting
If the saw chain is dry, refill the oil reservoir or clean the oil passage. If the chain or guide bar becomes hot, check the oil level, clean the oil passage, or adjust the chain tension. If the pruner vibrates or does not cut properly, check the chain tension, ensure the chain is sharp, and verify the teeth are facing the correct direction.
