Getting Started

Before using your new appliance for the first time, it is essential to perform a system flush. Fill both the coffeemaker and hot water reservoirs with cold water and run a full cycle for each without adding coffee or tea. This ensures the internal components are clean and ready for use. Always use the included charcoal water filters to remove chlorine, bad tastes, and odors from your tap water for the best flavor.

Programming and Operation

The coffeemaker features a programmable control panel that allows you to set the time of day and schedule an automatic brew time up to 24 hours in advance. To brew coffee, ensure the charcoal filter is installed, fill the reservoir, add a #4 paper filter or the permanent gold-tone filter, and add ground coffee. Use the 1-4 cup setting for smaller batches to optimize extraction. The Brew Pause feature allows you to pour a cup mid-brew, though it is recommended to wait for the cycle to finish for the best flavor profile.

The hot water system is equally simple to operate. Once the reservoir is filled and the unit is turned on, the Water Ready indicator will flash until the water reaches the optimal temperature. A safety lock is provided to prevent accidental dispensing. Simply unlock, place your mug on the drip tray, and press the lever to dispense up to 13 ounces of hot water at a time.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular maintenance is key to the longevity of your appliance. The filter basket, carafe, and lid are dishwasher safe (top rack only). Never immerse the base unit in water. The unit features a Clean indicator that flashes when it is time to decalcify the coffeemaker. This process involves running a mixture of white vinegar and water through a brew cycle. Similarly, the hot water system should be decalcified twice a year to remove scale buildup from the heating element. Always ensure the unit is cool before performing any maintenance or emptying the reservoirs.
