Device description
The tool features a trigger switch, forward/reverse control button, anvil, battery release button, worklights, and a mode selector. The DCF921 and DCF923 use a hog ring anvil, while the DCF922 uses an anvil with a detent pin.
Operation and modes
The tool includes a mode selector to adjust performance based on the application. Available modes include Precision Wrench mode, Timber Screw mode (DCF922/DCF923), Scaffolding mode (DCF921), and variable speed settings. The variable speed trigger allows for speed control; however, continuous use in the variable speed range is not recommended to prevent switch damage.
Battery and charging
Use only Dewalt 18V battery packs and chargers. To charge, insert the battery into the charger; a blinking red light indicates charging, while a solid red light indicates a full charge. The tool features an Electronic Protection System to prevent overloading, overheating, or deep discharge. For storage, keep batteries in a cool, dry place at room temperature.
Safety and maintenance
Always wear eye and ear protection. Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces when working near hidden wiring. Keep the tool clean by blowing dirt out of air vents with dry air. Never use solvents for cleaning. The tool requires no additional lubrication.

Common problems
Tool does not start or stops during operation
Check if the battery is fully charged and properly seated. The Electronic Protection System may have engaged; place the battery on the charger to reset.
Fastening torque is lower than expected
Ensure the battery is fully charged, use the correct accessory size, and ensure bolt threads are free of rust and debris.
Charger indicates a problem (faulty battery or charger)
The charger will refuse to light if the battery is faulty. Take both the charger and battery to an authorized service center for testing.

- Inspect the anvil, detent pins, or hog rings for damage.
- Verify that the accessory is compatible and free of cracks.
