Table of contents

Important Information

The Aircast Elbow Cryo/Cuff is designed to provide cold therapy and compression to minimize swelling and pain. It is intended for use by a single patient for the duration of the treatment.

Safety Warnings

  • Skin Checks: You must be able to check your skin condition under the cuff frequently. If you cannot check your skin condition, do not use this device. Perform skin checks every 1-2 hours.
  • Barrier Usage: Always apply a barrier (e.g., cloth or bandage) between the cuff and your skin. Do not wrap the cuff tightly.
  • Moisture: Check for moisture under the cuff. If moisture is present, immediately discontinue use.
  • Contraindications: Do not use if you have Raynaud's disease, cold hypersensitivity, decreased skin sensitivity, compromised local circulation, diabetes, or other peripheral vascular diseases.
  • Pressure: If you experience discomfort, numbness, or tingling in the limb, reduce the pressure.

Application Instructions

Follow these steps to apply and use the Cryo/Cuff:

  1. Prepare Cooler: Connect the blue tube to the cooler. Add water to the fill line inside the cooler, then add ice to the top. Place the insulation disk on top of the ice. Attach the cooler lid securely. Wait 5 minutes, shaking occasionally to chill the water.
  2. Apply Empty Cuff: Orient the cuff with the quick-disconnect pointing down and secure the straps loosely. Insert your arm and slide the cuff over the elbow. Readjust the straps for a snug fit.
  3. Fill Cuff: Connect the blue tube to the cuff until you hear a click. Open the air vent on the cooler lid. Raise the cooler no more than 38 cm above the cuff. Hold the cooler in this position for about 30 seconds while the cuff fills. Close the air vent. The cooler can now be disconnected by pressing the metal tab on the quick-disconnect.
  4. Rechill Water: Reconnect the blue tube to the cuff. Lower the cooler below the cuff to drain the warmed water back into the cooler. Wait 1-2 minutes for the water to mix with the ice and rechill, then raise the cooler and repeat the filling process.

Cleaning and Maintenance

After use, completely drain water from the cuff, tube, and cooler. To drain the tube, elevate it while pressing the tip of the quick-disconnect. Store the cooler with the lid off to allow it to dry. Periodically clean the cuff, tube, and cooler using a few ounces of liquid soap added to hot water in the cooler. Circulate the mixture between the cooler and cuff a few times, then repeat with warm water only. Rinse thoroughly.

Warranty

DJO, LLC will repair or replace all or part of the unit and its accessories for material or workmanship defects for a period of six months from the date of sale.
