Product Overview

The GYS GYSTEC 180E is a portable, fan-cooled inverter welding machine designed for both MMA (Manual Metal Arc) and TIG Lift (DC) welding. It is suitable for welding various materials, including rutile, stainless steel, cast iron, and basic electrodes. The TIG mode is compatible with most metals, excluding aluminum and its alloys.

Safety Precautions

Arc welding is hazardous and requires strict adherence to safety protocols. Users must wear appropriate protective clothing, including fire-resistant garments, insulating gloves, and welding helmets with adequate protection. The work area must be well-ventilated and free of flammable materials. Operators should be aware of electromagnetic fields (EMF) and take precautions, especially if using medical implants like pacemakers.

Installation and Operation

The unit must be placed on a surface with a maximum incline of 10 degrees and requires adequate ventilation. It is designed for connection to a 230V single-phase power supply with a 16A fuse. The machine features three specific inverter functions: Hot Start for easier arc ignition, Arc Force to prevent electrode sticking, and Anti-Sticking for easy electrode removal.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance should be performed by qualified personnel. This includes disconnecting the power supply, waiting two minutes for capacitors to discharge, and periodically removing the cover to clean dust with compressed air. Inspect the power cable regularly for damage and ensure all ventilation openings remain unobstructed.

Troubleshooting

If the machine fails to operate, check for thermal protection activation, power supply issues, or incorrect electrode polarity. For TIG welding, ensure the gas flow is correctly adjusted and the tungsten electrode is properly prepared. If issues persist, consult the provided troubleshooting table or contact authorized service personnel.
