Device Description and Setup
The disc grinder is designed for removing casting fins, finishing various steel, bronze, and aluminum materials, grinding welded sections, and cutting synthetic concrete, stone, brick, and marble. Key components include the toolless wheel guard, side handle, spindle, and switch.
Assembly and Operation
- Wheel Guard: Fit and adjust the wheel guard (Fig. 1).
- Side Handle: Fix the side handle securely (Fig. 2).
- Wheel Mounting: Assemble the depressed center wheel (Fig. 3), cutting wheel (Fig. 4), or diamond wheel (Fig. 5) according to the specific figure.
- Switch Operation: Use the switch to turn the tool on and off (Fig. 6). Note the 0-voltage restart protection feature.
- Grinding: Maintain a grinding angle of 15°–30° (Fig. 7).
Safety Warnings
- General Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate in explosive atmospheres.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use dust masks and hearing protection as appropriate.
- Kickback: Avoid pinching or snagging the wheel. Maintain a firm grip and use the auxiliary handle.
- Maintenance: Regularly clean air vents. Carbon brush inspection and supply cord replacement must be performed by a HiKOKI Authorized Service Center.
Maintenance and Inspection
Regularly inspect the depressed center wheel for cracks and surface defects. Ensure all mounting screws are properly tightened. Always disconnect the power source before performing any maintenance or assembly/disassembly.

Common problems
The 0-voltage restart protection is active. Return the power switch to the OFF position and wait for at least 1 second before restarting.
Stop the tool immediately. Check the mounting of the wheel and inspect for defects or damage.
Ensure the workpiece is properly supported. Avoid excessive pressure and do not attempt excessively deep cuts.
Before use
- Ensure the power source matches the nameplate requirements.
- Check that the power switch is in the OFF position.
- Inspect the grinding wheel for cracks or surface defects.
- Confirm the wheel is properly mounted and the nut is securely tightened.
- Ensure the push button is disengaged by pressing it 2-3 times.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (eye, ear, dust protection).
