Quick guide from the manual
This document provides essential operating instructions for the HiKOKI SV 13YA and SV 13YB random orbit sanders. It covers safety precautions, setup, and maintenance to ensure efficient and safe operation.
Applications
- Roughing or finishing of woodwork and metal surfaces.
- Preliminary sanding of woodwork and metal surfaces before painting.
- Paint removal.
- Rust removal.
Setup and Operation
Installing the sanding paper
The sander uses a hook-and-loop attachment system. To install:
- Gently fold the sanding paper along the axis of two holes to align it with the pad.
- Use the holes along the fold as a guide to match the paper to the pad.
- Press the entire sanding paper uniformly onto the pad.
Dust bag management
To attach the dust bag, hold the dust gate and push it in the direction of Arrow A onto the dust outlet. To remove, pull in the direction of Arrow B. Empty the bag when full to maintain effective dust collection.
Speed adjustment (SV13YA only)
The SV13YA features a dial for non-step speed control. Setting 1 provides the minimum speed (7000/min), while setting 6 provides the maximum speed (12000/min). Adjust the speed based on the material and desired efficiency.
Operating the sander
Turn the power on/off using the lever. Do not turn the power on while the sander is in contact with the surface. Hold the housing and press the sander lightly against the surface; do not apply excessive pressure, as this may overload the motor and reduce efficiency.
Maintenance and Inspection
- Dust Bag: Empty regularly to maintain suction performance.
- Sanding Paper: Replace immediately if worn to prevent damage to the pad and maintain efficiency.
- Mounting Screws: Regularly inspect and tighten all screws to prevent hazards.
- Motor: Keep the motor winding free from oil and water.
