Safety Warnings
General Power Tool Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate in explosive atmospheres. Keep children and bystanders away. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting to a power source.
Grinding and Cutting Safety: This tool is intended for grinding or cutting. Sanding, wire brushing, or polishing are not recommended. Always use the correct guard for the selected wheel. Ensure the rated speed of the accessory is at least equal to the maximum speed of the tool. Wear personal protective equipment, including eye and ear protection, dust mask, and gloves.
Mounting and Operation



- Wheel Guard: Must be securely attached and positioned for maximum safety.
- Side Handle: Fix securely to the tool.
- Wheel Assembly: Ensure the depressed center wheel is the correct type, free of cracks, and properly mounted with the wheel nut securely tightened.
- Switch Operation: Ensure the push button is disengaged before switching the tool on. The tool features 0-voltage restart protection; if power is cut, return the switch to OFF and wait at least 1 second before restarting.
Maintenance and Inspection
- Depressed Center Wheel: Regularly inspect for cracks and surface defects.
- Mounting Screws: Regularly inspect and ensure they are properly tightened.
- Carbon Brushes: Inspection and replacement must ONLY be performed by a HiKOKI Authorized Service Center.
- Motor Maintenance: Regularly blow dry air through the tail cover air hole while the motor is running without load to remove accumulated dust and dirt.

Common problems
The 0-voltage restart protection is active. Return the switch to OFF and wait at least 1 second before restarting.
Stop the tool immediately, check the wheel mounting, and inspect for defects or damage.
Accumulated dust and dirt inside the motor may be the cause. Blow out the motor with dry air while running without load.
Before use
- Ensure the power source matches the nameplate requirements.
- Check that the power switch is in the OFF position.
- Inspect the grinding wheel for cracks or surface defects.
- Ensure the wheel is properly mounted and the nut is tightened.
- Confirm the push button is disengaged.
