Quick guide from the manual

This document provides essential operating instructions for the Ridgid 18V Subcompact Impact Wrench (models R872071 and R872081). Always read the full safety warnings before use. The tool is designed for tightening and loosening nuts and bolts using impact-rated sockets.

Assembly

Ensure the tool is fully assembled before use. If parts are missing or damaged, contact customer service at 1-866-539-1710. The belt hook can be installed on either side of the housing by aligning the hole and securing it with the provided screw.

Operation

Variable Speed Switch Trigger: Depress the trigger to turn the tool ON. Higher pressure results in higher speed. Release the trigger to stop the anvil completely.

Direction of Rotation Selector: Set to the center (OFF) position to lock the trigger. Push to the left for forward operation and to the right for reverse.

Battery Pack: Ensure the latches on both sides snap into place to secure the battery. Depress the latches to remove it.

Sockets: Use only impact-rated sockets. Push the socket onto the anvil until the friction ring locks it in place.

Mode Selector: Cycle between Low (1), Medium (2), High (3), and Auto Mode (A). Auto Mode helps prevent over-tightening by automatically shutting down the tool once impacting begins (forward) or completes (reverse).

Maintenance

Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, or grease. For repairs, use only identical replacement parts through an authorized service center.

Safety

Always wear eye protection with side shields. Use ear protection during extended operation. Keep the tool away from fire or heat, and do not use in explosive atmospheres. If the battery leaks, wash skin with soap and water; if liquid enters eyes, flush for at least 10 minutes and seek medical attention.
