Quick guide from the manual

This document provides essential safety and operational instructions for Ridgid 18V Lithium-Ion battery packs. Always use only Ridgid 18V chargers. If the battery pack is damaged, modified, or dropped, do not use it. Keep the battery pack away from metal objects to prevent short circuits, and store it in a cool, dry place.

Operation

Lithium-ion batteries provide consistent power until they are fully drained. When the battery is depleted, it must be recharged. It is not necessary to drain the battery completely before recharging.

Battery Fuel Gauge

To check the remaining charge, press the charge level indicator button on the battery pack. The LEDs will indicate the charge status:

  • Need to Charge: Battery is empty.
  • 0-25%: Low charge.
  • 25-50%: Moderate charge.
  • 50-75%: High charge.
  • 75-100%: Fully charged.

Charging

Batteries are shipped with a low charge and must be charged before first use. If the battery is hot or cold, it may be placed on the charger, but charging will not begin until the battery temperature reaches an acceptable range.

Cold Weather Operation

The battery pack can be used in temperatures down to 14°F (-10°C). For best results, install the battery on a tool and use it for a light-duty application for about one minute to allow the battery to warm up.

Maintenance

Do not disassemble the battery pack. For storage longer than 30 days, store the battery in a dry place below 80°F (27°C) with a 30%-50% charge. Recharge the battery every six months during storage.

Safety and Disposal

If the battery pack is exposed to corrosive or conductive fluids (e.g., seawater, bleach), immediately place it in a bucket of tap water and contact customer service at 1-866-539-1710. Do not dispose of lithium-ion batteries in regular trash; recycle them according to local regulations. Always cover terminals with heavy-duty tape before disposal.
