Product Overview

The Sealey 1600KG Coil Spring Compressor is a high-quality, European-made tool designed exclusively for compressing and expanding McPherson strut springs during maintenance. It is supplied with two pairs of drop-forged safety yokes with polyurethane inserts for improved grip and features a safety restraint wire to prevent accidents in the event of a spring slip.

Safety Instructions

DANGER: Never allow coil windings to touch during compression. Always wear approved safety eye protection and protective gloves. Ensure the work area is clean, well-lit, and that you maintain proper balance. Never use the compressor for purposes other than those intended, and never overload the unit. Only trained personnel should operate this equipment.

Operation

Before operation, ensure the McPherson strut is removed from the vehicle. Select the correct size of jaws and mount them securely, ensuring the spring is clean and free of grease. The spring must rest securely within the outer rib and safety ridges of the jaws. Always install the safety wire around the spring and lock the quick link before starting. Use a socket wrench to rotate the drive nut, limiting torque to 120 Nm to avoid overloading the safety pin. Ensure the compressor is centered on the spring windings at all times.

Maintenance

Regular inspections should be performed monthly by qualified personnel. If any damage or deformation is detected, stop use immediately. Keep the unit clean and dry. The guide spindle should be greased with graphite grease at least every six months. Never attempt to repair the unit yourself, except for replacing the safety pin. Always use genuine parts.
