Quick Guide
The Somfy SDN 0-10V Interface V2 converts standard 0-10V analog dimming signals into Somfy Digital Network (SDN) or animeo IP commands. This device allows third-party lighting control systems to drive motors in 10% increments (0%-100%). Before installation, ensure the project is fully commissioned and the 0-10V signal source is compatible.
Overview and Connections
The device features a junction-box-mountable, plenum-rated enclosure. Key components include:
- 0-10V Input & Power: Flying leads for power and 0-10V wiring.
- SDN Output: RJ45 port for SDN bus communication and power.
- Push Button: Used for sequencing motor operation, animeo IP discovery, and power cycling.
- Bus Power Switch: Enables or disables +24V bus power (LEFT=OFF, RIGHT=ON).
- Main Power LED: Solid green when powered.
- Bus Activity LED: Blinks green with SDN bus activity.
Installation and Wiring
This device must be installed by a qualified electrician. It connects to a standard 0-10V input signal inside the junction box using a 4-conductor 18AWG cable. The wiring color code is as follows:
- Violet: 0-10V (+)
- Pink: 0-10V (-)
- White: Neutral
- Black: Line
The device connects to the SDN bus via a standard CAT-5e or higher cable.
SDN Mode Configuration
To configure the device for standalone SDN mode:
- Open the DIP switch bank access door.
- Set the Bus Power Switch as required.
- Set Bank A DIP switches to define the control function (Percent Position vs. Intermediate Position, SDN Mode Output, Standard vs. Reverse Operation).
- Set Bank B DIP switches to select the specific SDN group address.
- Close the access door.
- Press and release the Push Button to test.
- Test operation from the third-party 0-10V output control.
animeo IP Mode Configuration
To configure the device for animeo IP mode:
- Open the DIP switch bank access door and set the Bus Power Switch.
- Set Bank A DIP switches to enable animeo IP Mode Output.
- Set Bank B DIP switches for the specific group address.
- In the animeo IP Visual Configuration software, enter Configuration Mode and use the Remote Wizard.
- Press and hold the Push Button for 7-30 seconds to discover the device.
- Select the device in the software, name it, and assign it as a 6 Button Decoflex Keypad Preset.
- Upload the configuration to the animeo IP Building Controller.
DIP Switch Settings
The DIP switch bank is located behind the access door. Bank A controls the function (Mode, Position type, Operation direction). Bank B controls the specific SDN group address. Refer to the appendices in the manual for the specific switch combinations for each address and function.
Input Levels and SDN Output
The interface is optimized for discrete voltage inputs to ensure stable motor positioning. It accepts a range of 0-10V, with specific voltage levels corresponding to motor positions from 0% to 100% (or Intermediate Positions IP1-IP11). It is compatible with standard analog voltages (0.75V to 9.1V) and Encelium wireless control modules.
Practical help
Common problems
Check if the Bus Power switch is set correctly (ON/OFF) and verify all wiring connections.
Verify that the DIP switch settings in Bank A and Bank B match the desired configuration.
Ensure the device is in the correct mode and the push button was held for the required 7-30 seconds during discovery.
Before use
- Ensure the 0-10V signal source is compatible (0.75V to 9.1V range).
- Verify that the installation is performed by a qualified electrician.
- Check that the Bus Power switch is set to the correct position (LEFT=OFF, RIGHT=ON).
- Confirm that the SDN or animeo IP project is fully commissioned.
Specs in practice
