Quick guide from the manual
The TC Electronic Ditto Jam X2 Looper is designed for musicians who need to sync loops with live band tempo. The pedal utilizes BeatSense technology to detect the tempo of the music, ensuring your loops stay in time.
Loop operations
The pedal uses two footswitches to control the looping process:
- Record/Play/Overdub: Press the Loop footswitch once to record. Press once again to overdub, and once more to play.
- Undo/Redo: Press and hold the Loop footswitch to undo the last action. Press and hold again to redo.
- Stop/Clear: Press the Stop footswitch once to stop the loop. Press and hold the Stop footswitch to clear the loop.
Mode selection
To change the operating mode, press the Stop footswitch twice and hold. The LED will indicate the current mode:
- BeatSense (Green LED): Syncs the loop to the band's tempo.
- Practice (Red LED): Mode for practicing.
- Classic Looper: Standard looping functionality.
Microphone placement
For optimal performance, especially when using the BeatSense feature, microphone placement is critical:
- Onboard Microphone: Place the pedal closer to the percussion source and away from the direct sound of your amplifier.
- External Microphone: For better results, use an external microphone connected directly to the rhythm source. Reliable positions include under the snare drum, inside a cajon, or clipped to a djembe tensioner near the head.
