Comprehensive technical specifications, installation guidelines, and dimming instructions for the Tridonic LCBI 10W constant current LED driver.
Table of contents
Product Overview
The Tridonic LCBI 10W is an independent, dimmable constant current LED driver designed for professional lighting applications. It supports dimming via phase-cut dimmers or 1-10V control interfaces. The unit is built for safety, featuring SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) output, overload protection, short-circuit protection, and open-circuit protection.

Technical Specifications
The driver is available in three output current variants: 180 mA, 350 mA, and 500 mA, with a nominal output power of 10 W. It operates on a mains voltage range of 220–240 V (AC). The housing is made of white polycarbonate with an IP20 protection rating, utilizing screw terminals for secure connections. The nominal service life is up to 50,000 hours.
Installation and Wiring
The device must be installed in a dry, oil-free, and grease-free environment. Input and output cables should be stripped by 4–5 mm. The maximum torque for the M3 terminal screws is 0.2 Nm. To ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), keep all connections as short as possible and route mains cables separately from LED output cables (ideally 5–10 cm apart). The maximum length for output cables is 2 meters. Secondary switching (hot-plugging) of the LED module is strictly prohibited as it can cause damage.
Dimming Operation
The driver supports a dimming range of 10% to 100%. When using 1-10V dimming, the light intensity is proportional to the applied voltage. A logarithmic potentiometer (200 kΩ) is recommended for manual dimming. Note that combining phase-cut and 1-10V dimming on the same device is not permitted, as it may cause flickering.
Safety and Maintenance
The driver includes thermal protection according to EN 61347-2-13 C5e. If a short circuit occurs at the output, the driver shuts down and automatically returns to normal operation once the fault is cleared. The device is designed for protection class I and II luminaires. For maintenance, ensure the power is disconnected before removing or replacing the LED module, and wait 20 seconds before reconnecting.

Common problems
Ensure you are not using both phase-cut and 1-10V dimming simultaneously on the same device.
Check for short circuits or overloads. The device will automatically restart once the fault is removed.
Ensure correct input polarity at the 1-10V interface; incorrect polarity will damage the driver.
Before use
- Verify the LED module current requirements match the driver model (180mA, 350mA, or 500mA).
- Ensure the installation environment is dry and free of oil/grease.
- Strip input and output wires to 4–5 mm.
- Check that the mains voltage is within the 220–240 V range.
- Ensure the total cable length on the output side does not exceed 2 meters.
Images and diagrams
- The wiring diagram shows separate terminals for mains input (L, N) and LED output (+, -).
- The 1-10V dimming diagram illustrates the connection of a 1-10V dimmer to the control interface.
Model compatibility
- Compatible with phase-cut dimmers and 1-10V dimming systems.
- Suitable for protection class I and II luminaires.
- Not suitable for through-wiring.
