Quick Guide from the Manual

This manual provides instructions for installing the Akrapovič Track Day Link Pipe/Collector on the Honda CBR 1000RR-R. Before beginning, ensure the motorcycle is securely positioned on a solid, flat surface and that the engine and exhaust system are completely cool. Verify all parts against the parts list before starting. Key torque specifications include 22Nm for the link pipe and muffler brackets, and 34Nm for the lambda sensor.

Safety and Compliance

Installation should only be performed by skilled persons. The exhaust system can become extremely hot; do not touch it until it has cooled down. Always check your motorcycle's ground clearance and consider adjusting spring preload if necessary. Be aware that modifications to the exhaust system may affect compliance with local noise and emission laws.

Tools and Equipment

The following tools are required for the installation:

  • Mechanic gloves
  • T-handle 3 mm hexagon wrench
  • T-handle Torx 40 wrench
  • Combination 13 mm wrench
  • Spring puller

  1. Slide the Track Day Link pipe onto the collectors and attach the springs. Ensure the springs pull the link pipe fully onto the headers; use a rubber mallet if necessary.
  2. Tighten the link pipe bracket to 22Nm (16ftlb) using the bolt and washer from the installation kit.
  3. Install the lambda sensor into the link pipe and tighten to 34Nm (25ftlb).
  4. Position the muffler, slide it onto the outlet of the link pipe, and attach the springs.
  5. Align the muffler and tighten it to the bracket using the bolt, washers, and nut from the installation kit to 22Nm (16ftlb).
  6. Reinstall the cowling.

Final Installation and Maintenance

Clean any grease spots off the exhaust surfaces after installation to prevent them from burning on. Do not use aggressive chemical cleaners or acidic automotive wheel cleaners.

  • Titanium outer sleeve/pipes: Use a soft cloth with a multi-purpose spray lubricant (e.g., WD-40).
  • Carbon-fiber parts: Use a soft dry cloth with all-purpose foam cleaner.
  • Stainless steel pipes: Use a soft cloth with contact cleaner.

Periodically check that all bolts and springs are sufficiently tight. Note that white smoke during the first 100 km and a change in exhaust color due to high temperatures are normal.

Troubleshooting

If exhaust gas leaks from the muffler/pipe clamp connections, ensure the connection is completely joined by tapping it into place.
