Quick guide from the manual

This document provides operating instructions for the APA 12V 4A automatic battery charger. It is designed for charging 12V lead-acid batteries (WET, AGM, and maintenance-free MF) with a capacity between 20-85 Ah. The device is for indoor use only in dry environments between -5°C and +40°C.

Preparation

Before charging, clean the battery poles of dust and corrosion. For open batteries, remove the cell plugs and check the liquid level, topping up with distilled water to the minimum level if necessary. Keep cells open during the charging process.

Connecting the battery charger

  1. Ensure the charger is NOT connected to the power socket.
  2. Connect the red positive cable (+) to the positive pole of the battery.
  3. Connect the black negative cable (-) to the negative pole of the battery. If charging in a vehicle, connect the black cable to the car body (an unpainted, bare metal part) far from the battery, carburetor, and fuel lines.

Charging the battery

Once connected, plug the charger into the power socket. The green ON lamp and yellow CHARGING lamp will light up. When the battery is fully charged, the device automatically switches to maintenance mode, and the green FULL lamp will light up.

Removing the charger

  1. Unplug the charger from the power socket first to prevent sparks.
  2. Disconnect the black negative clamp.
  3. Disconnect the red positive clamp.
  4. Allow the battery to cool down.

Safety and maintenance

Do not use the charger as a starter aid. Always wear protective gloves and goggles when working with batteries. If the red lamp lights up, the cables are connected incorrectly; disconnect and re-attach correctly. Clean the pole clamps after each use and store the device in a dry, clean place.
